The Walker Art Center (Minneapolis, MN) is a multi-disciplinary, contemporary art museum with curatorial departments dedicated to visual and performing arts, film, and design. It was established by lumber baron T.B. Walker in 1927 to show his personal collection of artworks, which ranged from early American landscapes to modern glass and ancient jade. Their legendary design department regularly publishes catalogs, monographs, and other original print material from in-house generated content.

The center is notable not only for its world-renowned collection and dedication to contemporary art, but for its location in the Midwest. Their consistent civic voice within the region and culturally on a global scale is an insistent reminder that to decenter the establishment is vital to a thriving heritage of creative histories.
